Kicking Horse Resort
This is my personal description of Kicking Horse Mountain Resort: When I was 16 years old I worked with my Dad to re-construct Talus Creek Road (Now Kicking Horse Trail) from the Cedar Lake Turn off to the base of the Pioneer Chair. A few years later I applied for a job at Whitetooth Ski Society as a lifty, but the manager Fred Briggs put me on a snowcat because he knew my Dad and figured bulldozing was in my blood. A few years later I was DJing at the big ribbon-cutting ceremony when Ballast Nedam named the ski hill Kicking Horse Mountain Resort. I opened a construction company called Choice Ventures Ltd. and started building the road to the first residential development (Whispering Pines) soon after. Construction, snow removal, DJing, and owning the horseback trail rides kept me working for over 20 years. I even bought the Highland Lodge and renamed it after my Grandfather; Winston Wolfenden. We sold in 2015 and that's when I became a Realtor, still serving the Kicking Horse Community with the support of my Brokerage and fellow Realtors. ~ Bill Braisher
